The 4th round of men’s singles at the US Open (USA/New York, Hard, Grand Slam) tennis was held on the 5th, and 22nd seed F. Tiafoe (USA) defeated 2nd seed R Nadal (Spain) at 6. -4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and advanced to the final 8 for the first time in the tournament.

Tiafoe, 24, is participating in the event for the eighth consecutive year. In the first round of that tournament, he beat 56th-seeded M. Giron (USA), 109th-seeded J. Kubler (Australia) in the second round, and 14th-seeded D. Schwartzman (Argentina) in the third round. He lost all three matches against Nadal for the first time in three years. Tiafoe scored 18 aces in the game and scored 76% of the time on his first serve. Although he took the first set lead, he gave a break at the end of the second set and was considered a set all. Still, he won the 3rd and 4th sets in a row and won in 3 hours and 34 minutes. Winner Tiafoe will face No. 9 seed A. Rublev in the quarter-finals. In the fourth round, Rublev took down 7th seed C. Norry (Great Britain) in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. On 4, 5th seed C. Ruud (Norway), 13th seed M. Berrettini (Italy), 23rd seed N. Kyrgios (Australia) and 27th seed K. Khachanov qualified for the first eight.
