Abe’s estimated state funeral costs 1.66 billion yen

The planned state funeral for former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on September 27 will cost around 1.66 billion yen ($11.8 million) after taking into account the cost of security and hospitality for dignitaries foreigners, the government announced on Tuesday.

The initial estimate – which only took into account the cost of renting and preparing the Budokan arena in central Tokyo, and did not cover additional security for the estimated 6,400 attendees – was 250 million yen.
