Painter Otterstad: “Ohtani is an incredible player”
A painting of Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani has appeared at Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros. It was displayed in the Angels side locker room and became a talking point among team officials.
Otani’s painting was drawn by Opie Otterstad, a painter who lives in Houston and has been drawing MLB for 20 years. The hitter Otani in full swing is drawn above the popular baseball manga “MAJOR”. It is said to be a masterpiece that took four days. “Ohtani is an amazing player. He hasn’t been around for 100 years. You have to focus on throwing and shooting,” Otterstad said.
The locker room is decorated with paintings of the Red Sox from when pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka belonged. Bench coach Ray Montgomery praised, “Good! Awesome!” It was so good it was captured with a cell phone camera.
