The United States and Japan plan to hold a summit on the sidelines of the UN Assembly

US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plan to hold a summit around September 20 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, diplomatic sources said on Saturday.

The meeting could, however, be reduced to short talks as Biden has already indicated he will travel to London to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, which could clash with the first day of high-level debate in the meeting on September 20.
