Ukraine attacks Russia along the northern front, quickly gaining gains

Kyiv- Ukrainian forces have recorded the largest battlefield gains since driving Russia out of the region around Kyiv in April by retaking territory in the northeast, according to Ukrainian officials, Western analysts and images from the battlefield.

In his evening address to the nation on Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian military had captured dozens of villages and large swaths of Russian-occupied territory across Ukraine since the start of the offensive. “In total, more than a thousand square kilometers of the territory of Ukraine have been liberated since the beginning of September,” he said.
