Sole yokozuna Terunofuji picked up a solid victory on Tuesday, the third day of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament, a day after an upset loss knocked him out of the top group.
Unable to get a belt grab from the start, the yokozuna locked up No. 2 maegashira Kotonowaka’s arms and used his leverage to force him back. Kotonowaka (1-2) tries to slip away and outflank the yokozuna, but Terunofuji keeps his opponent squarely in front of him and shoves him.
