Goals from defender Eduardo and striker Elber either side of half-time and a strong defense lifted Yokohama F Marinos to a five-point lead at the top of the J-League Premier League after victory 2-1 away to Kyoto Sanga on Wednesday. As both sides attacked furiously in the opening minutes, Eduardo headed in a 25th-minute corner as Marinos exploited a pair of the hosts’ defensive fouls at the Sanga Stadium. The corner kick came after a blocked shot was made possible when a defender failed to recover a pass, causing goalkeeper Naoto Kamifukumoto to stare at his teammates and suggest they keep. .
