LIV Golf defections deal a blow to the Presidents Cup

The Saudi-backed LIV golf series, which attracts PGA Tour talent, has diminished next week’s Presidents Cup, smashing a roster of internationals once seen as a threat to the United States.

Instead, the World Team will field eight rookies against an American roster with 12 of the world’s top 26 ranked players when the team’s biennial games begin Thursday at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
