In September, a man and a woman in their twenties were arrested in connection with the discovery of the body of a newborn baby in the plumbing room of a hotel in Nagoya’s Naka district. Both said they had no money and didn’t know what to do, but we asked them why the sad incident happened and how to consult them.
[Regarder la vidéo]Why did this sad incident happen? The body of a baby was found in a hotel and men and women in their twenties were arrested. On the morning of September 8, the body of a newborn baby was found in a downtown Nagoya hotel in Nishikisan. A male employee who was carrying out inspection work in the hotel facilities discovered it and, according to the police, the corruption was increasing.
Police arrested Kana Iida, 20, the baby’s mother, and Yuito Ishibashi, 21, her boyfriend, on suspicion of dumping the body on the 14th. Both admitted to the inquest that they had no no money when the child was born and did not know what to do. Here’s what we know so far about the two people arrested. The two were former co-workers and had a relationship, then left the company due to issues, but the two did not get along well with their families and both ran away from home in early February. You can see the situation where two people have been isolated.
She stayed at the hotel where her body was found from late May to late July and is believed to have given birth around this time. Both were unemployed and living on short-term part-time jobs, and are said to have had several hundred yen in their possession at the time of their arrest. Investigations are currently underway to find out more about the payment of accommodation costs and subsequent steps.
We asked the “Maternal and Child Health Section” of Nagoya City Bureau of Children and Youth if it was possible to prevent such sad incidents. In fiscal year 2021, there were 187 consultations with pregnant women and others. Due to the “increase in single person households” and the “impact of Corona”, it seems that there are many cases where it is difficult to communicate with the people around them, such as parents and friends, and there are many unexpected pregnancies.
The city of Nagoya has set up a free consultation service called “Nagoya Pregnancy SOS”. You can consult anonymously by phone, email or LINE. Even people who don’t live in Nagoya can use it, so please consult us first.
